1. Q: What is needed to rent a car?

A: You must be between 21 and 65 years old holding a valid Singapore class 3 driving license or a valid international driving license for a minimum of two years. Two years qualified driving experience is required.

2. Q: Can anyone drive the car other than the person renting the car?

A: Yes, other drivers are allowed but this information must be provided at check-in. Additional drivers must fulfill the basic requirements for a car rental.

3. Q: What happens if I am unable to return the car on time?

A: Every hour is charged at 1/3 of the daily rental rate.

4. Q: What do I do if my rented car breaks down?

A: Simply call our 24-hour Roadside Assistance Service. The contact numbers can be found in your rental vehicle’s Log Book.

5. Q: Do you offer delivery and collection services?

A: Yes. Either service is chargeable at either S$20/= or S$40/= subject to delivery / collection venue and time. (applicable to daily rental)

6. Q: What does “excess” mean in the contract?

A: “Excess” means the liability the hirer bears in the event of any damages or accidents to the rental vehicle.

- $4000 Excess (Below 25 years old and above 65 years old)
- $6000 Excess (Malaysia Usage)
Non-waiver access is the reduced excess when the additional insurance benefit CDW(collision damage waiver) is purchased .

7. Q: Do I have to top up the petrol before returning the car?

A: Yes, the person renting the car has to refill the petrol to its original level upon returning the car. If not, it will be chargeable based on the estimated cost of petrol.

8. Q: How do I extend the rental period?

A: To extend the rental beyond the agreed date or time of termination, it is important that you contact us immediately with a request, as it is subject to approval and payment must be made in advance.

9. Q: Besides unlimited use of the car on Singapore roads, what does the car rental rate include?

A: It includes insurance, road tax, breakdown service and full maintenance during the period of hire.

10. Q: If I choose to pick up the car, where do I go to do that?

A: You can collect and return the vehicle at our office or by calling our fleet consultant at 6100 7368 / 6100 RENT for advise.

11. Q: Can I drive the car to Malaysia?

A:Yes. There will be a malaysia insurance surcharge of S$40 per day.

12. Q: If I have my own personal accident insurance, do I still need to purchase the one offered by ECG Car Rental?

A: Personal accident insurance is optional. However it is available at S$5 per day for coverage of up to S$20,000 for the driver. Passenger insurance coverage is available upon request.
